Gender Reveal: Touchdowns or Tutus
Hi everyone! So many NEW and EXCITING things have happened since I last blogged in November. Matt and I enjoyed our first Christmas in our home, I started a new job working for a legal marketing firm, and…you ready for this? WE FOUND OUT WE’RE EXPECTING!
Yes, this October we will be welcoming our first bundle of joy! We are so thrilled and happy, it’s indescribable.
Since we already announced our pregnancy in March, we were excited to do the next part: the gender reveal.
Through genetic testing, the doctor could tell the sex. We had them put the results in an envelope, which I gave to my girlfriend in April. Even though the reveal was only a month away, it felt like forever. We couldn’t wait to find out if we’d be welcoming a baby girl or baby boy.
But the anticipation was completely worth it. To carry on our love of football, we decided to have a Touchdowns or Tutus themed reveal. Matt kicked a football that released colored dust that indicated the sex. My girlfriend found the gender reveal football on Amazon, which included both pink and blue powder. I purchased it and had it shipped to her and she put it together.
We found out we’re having a BABY BOY! Matthew Joseph arriving 10/11/2019!
A gender reveal is such a fun, creative and memorable way to find out if you’re having a boy or a girl. Again, the waiting part can be hard, but the anticipation is completely worth it. We invited our family and close friends to experience and celebrate the reveal with us.
While I was excited to have a gender reveal party, I also didn’t want to go overboard. You can find a lot of fun and creative gender reveal party ideas on Pinterest. My only concern was spending too much on decorations, games, and other things that would be tossed afterward. But how much you want to spend is completely up to you! We kept our reveal simple and loved it!
If you’re considering a Touchdowns or Tutus gender reveal for yourself or a friend or family member, here’s what our reveal party included so you can get some ideas.
Food and Beverages
The food we had catered from a family friend. Family and friends offered to make sides like a cucumber salad, potato salad, and desserts like brownies and cookies. My cousin made a cake with blue and pink sprinkles and topped it with a Tutus or Touchdowns cake topper. Of course, we had the usual party foods like chips and dip, and a pretzel tray. I bought a football beach pail at the Dollar Store that I filled with an assortment of candy for the kids.
For beverages, we had two drink dispensers with one filled with pink lemonade (girl) and the other with blue Gatorade (boy). We bought Country Time Pink Lemonade Drink Mix and Gatorade Glacier Freeze Powder from BJ’s Wholesale Club. My cousin had leftover blue and pink straws that guests used. We also had bottled water, an assortment of soda cans, and juice boxes for the kids. We made the event a BYOB to save money and this way everyone could enjoy their favorite drink
Games
Scoreboard
My best friend created a scoreboard so we could keep count on how many people thought we were having a boy and how many thought we were having a girl.
Candy Guessing Game
To give back a little something to the guests, my best friend also put together two small jars, one pink and one blue, each filled with Hershey’s Kisses. One jar, the blue one, was purposely filled with one more Hersey Kiss than the other since that was the sex of the baby. The person who guessed the closest without going over won the candy jar. Matt won the blue jar and we found out we’re having a boy, how funny?
Decorations
Touchdowns or Tutus Banner
My girlfriend made us this banner that is super cute and simple. I saw many banners on Pinterest and Etsy to make or purchase, but I personally don’t think they’re worth the price or work. I mean, in the end, we tossed the banner since we had no use for it.
Balloons
Balloons can get expensive so I bought two pink, two blue and two that say “Girl or Boy?” from Party City for under $14. I wanted to buy a football balloon and tutu balloon but I didn’t think it was necessary to spend so much on balloons (about $5 per balloon) and they didn’t have the tutu one anyway.
Necklaces and Stickers to Wear
I found blue and pink necklaces at Walmart and the Dollar Store that I put on the table for guests to wear to indicate if they think it’s a boy or a girl. My cousin purchased “Team Boy” and “Team Girl” stickers for guests to wear as well.
Table Covers
I checked out the Dollar Store thinking it may be cheaper to get table covers there, but I found them in packs of three (one color) at Walmart for less than $3. I bought a pack of blue and a pack of pink table covers.
