Exploring the World Through My Lens

Remembering the Early Days of Photography

Remember grainy selfies on old cameras? Or one-use disposable cameras on trips and special occasions? Waiting for them to be developed was always a surprise—awkward angles, blurry shots—and honestly, a lot of fun. Photography, cameras—technology in general—have come a long way since then.

How My Photography Journey Began

My journey started on a whim with a Canon PowerShot S, a gift from my mother. I photographed friends, family, celebrations, vacations, animals, and everyday moments unfolding around me. As I grew, my focus naturally shifted toward places and simple yet meaningful scenes—a seagull flying over ocean waves on a bright, sunny day, or my dog relaxing in the backyard grass with the sun overhead. These early images, rooted in both life and place, sparked a love for photography that continues today.

Evolving With Technology

As phone cameras improved, I transitioned from my Canon to my iPhone for convenience and quality. But as I became more serious about photography, I realized it was time to invest in a “real” camera—one that offered more control, such as adjustable zoom, precise focus, capturing movement, and the ability to truly preserve the elements and details I wanted in my shots.

In 2020, my husband gifted me a Nikon D3400—the perfect camera for beginners. I took online courses to learn how to use it and explore everything it’s capable of. The classes also taught me how to create compelling, well-crafted images. What began as a hobby has grown into a deep passion. Photography allows me to explore new places, appreciate nature, and document the environments and moments that shape each experience.

Photography as Storytelling

I love telling stories through images, which complements my work in digital marketing. Photos uniquely convey powerful and lasting stories—no words needed. Nature, scenery, landscapes, wildlife, and meaningful places, both natural and built, are fascinating and deserve to be captured and remembered. We don’t know how long these scenes will remain unchanged, so we photograph them now to preserve their stories for future generations. When I take a photo, I often reflect on how long that place or moment has existed—and how long it might endure.

Continuing the Journey

My path in photography has been one of growth, discovery, and creativity. I’m constantly expanding my portfolio and seeking places and scenes that spark curiosity and connection. I invite you to visit my photography website and join me as I continue capturing moments and places frozen in time.
